Quick Burgers (or Quick Sausage Patties)

Combine in a microwave safe container or sauce pot;
2 1/2 c. hot water
1 t. browning sauce
1 T. vegetable flakes
1 vegetable bouillon cube
1/4 t. black pepper
2 c. TVP (see note below)

For sausage style patties, add;

1 t. fennel seeds
1/2 t. minced garlic
1/4 to 1 t. crushed red pepper
1/2 t. ground sage
1 t. parsley
Cover loosely and microwave 6 - 8 minutes, or heat on stove top until simmering, stirring frequently. Remove from microwave or stove and let set covered 5 minutes. Add and stir in well;

1 c. instant oatmeal (uncooked)
Uncover and let cool stirring occasionally for 5 - 10 minutes or until you can safely scoop and form into patties. Rinsing hands with cold water to avoid helps to stop you from getting "oatmeal mittens".

Bake on a lightly oiled tray 9 - 10 minutes each side at 450'
NOTE; You can use TVP or TVP chunks in this recipe. IF you use chunks, add an additional 1/2 c. water and 1/4 c. oatmeal. this makes them a little easier to form. When baking, re-form the patties with a spatula after the first 3 - 4 minutes of baking, and again after flipping if necessary.
